Proceedings of the Iola Village Board of Trustees, Monday, October 9, 2017, 6:00 p.m.

 

     President Edler called the regular monthly meeting of the Iola Village Board of Trustees to order at 6:00 p.m. at the community center. President Edler made the open meeting statement that this meeting and all other meetings of this Board are open to the public. Proper notice has been posted and given to the press in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes so the citizenry may be made aware of the time, place and agenda of this meeting. Board members present; President Edler, Trustees Rasmussen, Parks, Fenn, Harper, Murphy and Briquelet. Others present; clerk Johnson, attorney Meagher, Lyle Mork and Holly Nueman. President Edler led the Board in the pledge of allegiance.

     Moved by David Harper, seconded by Jim Rasmussen, to approve minutes of the last regular meeting of September 11, the finance/personnel committee meeting of September 26 and the finance committee meeting of October 3 as written, motion carried.

   Moved by Terry Murphy, seconded by Kathy Briquelet, for the board to accept the police monthly statistical report as prepared by Chief Prahl, motion carried.

   At 6:15 p.m. moved by David Harper, seconded by Jim Rasmussen, for the Board to temporarily adjourn into a public hearing to consider the proposed 2018 Village of Iola budget, motion carried. No members of the general public were present for the hearing. Following completion of the public hearing moved by David Harper, seconded by Jim Rasmussen, to adjourn the public hearing and resume the regular meeting, motion carried.

     Moved by David Harper, seconded by Jim Rasmussen, for the board to adopt the 2018 Village of Iola proposed budget as presented (copy attached) of $1,145,052.00, with a tax levy of $676,886.00 and a mill rate of $10.7385, motion carried

     The monthly bills were presented to the finance committee for approval. The finance committee examined the bills and recommended that they be allowed. Moved by David Harper, seconded by Jim Rasmussen, that the recommendation of the finance committee be adopted and an order drawn on the treasury for the various amounts, motion carried.

     Village board members are invited to attend the October 25 library board meeting at 4:15 p.m. for a project update and to ask any questions they may have.

     The Village of Iola has won the bid in the amount of $11,717.50 for the purchase of a used street sweeper from the Wisconsin Surplus Online Auction.
